Vintage Bilma - Clapsticks



Measures 28 cm & 27 cm

Collected 1950's - 1960's by Margaret Fairweather (1915-2003), a well known Northern Territory lady who built the Daly River Hotel with her husband. Fairweather was an avid collector of fine Aboriginal artefacts and had a good long association with the Malakmalak and Moil tribes of that region.

These well used ceremonial clapsticks were expertly crafted from the heartwood of ironwood and are blessed with a wonderful ringing metallic sound, the benchmark of high quality, genuine Aboriginal clapsticks!
