Secret-Sacred Message Board

This secret sacred message board was collected in Alice Springs, Central Australia in the 1st quarter of the 20th century. It came from an old Australian private collection and it measures 73.5 cm in length and about 12 cm across at its widest point. This is quite a large size and denotes high religious significance. The smaller ones, which are more common, might be more of a mundane nature. As you can see here, this artefact is incised with beautiful sacred designs on both sides. There are some small nicks to the edges as can be expected of something of this age and one very tiny pin hole through the centre of one concentric circle.
