A Study of Australian Art

by Herbert E. Badham

Rare 1st Edition, 1949.

This is a very rare title and in good condition for year, tightly bound and very clean!

An excellent historical work with 143 illustrations, 8 of them in colour.
The 6 Aboriginal illustrations in the first chapter on Aboriginal art relate to carved trees, bark paintings, parrying shields, rock engravings and a water colour by Albert Namatjira - 'Ghost Gum, MacDonnell Ranges.'

There is no DJ and the binding has faded slightly on the spine and there are small bumps to the top and bottom edges of the front and rear covers. The top and bottom of the spine is slightly bumped and rubbed. The outside corners of the covers are very lightly rubbed, are still square and don't appear to be bumped. There is a small booksellers label (Angus & Robertson Ltd of Sydney) to the bottom of the front pastedown.

Personal gift message on the ffep ('Mac - from Mick, with every good wish. Xmas, 1950'). There are no other marks, or foxing!
