A wonderful documentary featuring renowned master yidaki maker Djalu Gurruwiwi, as well as Djalu's son Larry Winiwini, little Vernon, Mandawuy Yunupingu and lots of other family members from Djalu's Ski Beach community.
"Djalu passes his knowledge down to his son and grandsons, explaining the fundamentals of the required techniques in finding, making and playing the yidaki."
Eloquently narrated by Jack Thomson for the Discovery Channel in 2000. There's also some interesting sections showing the vibration of Winiwini's lips from inside the actual yidaki via a tiny camara!
PAL 25 minutes.
