This is a very important and significant instrument which was used in Parliament in Canberra during the Prime Minister's Apology. It was a historic occasion because this was the first time that a "Welcome to Country" ceremony was performed in Parliament. The instrument was played by Arnold Marika, a very talented 16 year old yidaki player whose father Gurrumin Marika is a bit of a legend for his reputation in making feathered armbands and headdresses.
