Mirarra is an exceptional yidaki maker and this one is simply superb in every department!

A loud, powerful, and super resonant powerhouse yidaki, with sledgehammer presence!
Picked for a
Gumatj Bapuru ceremony, where Mirarra played the Lurrpu song (manikay Bapuru Lurrpumirr) on it.

“The White Cockatoo named Lurrpu belonging to the Yirritja Moity sat in the paperbark tree called Mayko where he cried for the deceased Yolngu”
It is a very sad song. If you have the DVD movie “Yolngu Boy” in that movie this song is also played at the end when they show the funeral of the “bad” boy.

Mirarra’s Yidaki is of the Yirritja style (Yirritja is opposite Dhuwa (Gurruwiwi)) which is shorter than the Galpu (Dhawu/Gurruwiwi) kind. However, the painting on mirarra's Yidaki is Dhuwa, because it is done by Selma Gurruwiwi, the daughter of Djalu.
